Color My World: The Psychology and Selection of Color Tips from an Interior Decorator

Did you ever wonder why it takes you five trips to the paint store to choose the perfect color of yellow for your kitchen? Do you feel hungrier in a room with red or orange walls? Does a blue bedroom promote a good night’s sleep? Why are hospital walls painted green? Will dark colors make my room seem smaller? How does one choose colors for adjacent rooms? Learn about the science and psychology of color. You will rediscover primary and secondary color lessons from grade school but now you will be able to add to your knowledge of color theory with understanding about warm and cool colors, tints and shades, color combinations, and the moods and actions that certain colors evoke. Barbara Graceffa will bring her color wheel, photo books, fabric swatches and paint chips. You bring your curiosity and decorating questions.

Date & Time: Monday March 29th, 2010 11:30 am
Location: Room 204A, 3rd fl., McCormack Hall
Presenter: Barbara Graceffa works at UMass Boston’s McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies as a full-time web designer. After hours, she is Secretary of the Interior, an interior decorator helping clients with furniture and paint selections, window treatments, clutter control, and downsizing.
